With two decades of experience, Bess has worked as an organizer, deputy campaign manager, finance director and consultant with Georgia candidates up and down the ballot. She has managed the fundraising operations of over a dozen winning campaigns in the state, raising a combined total of nearly $20M. Notable clients include Jason Carter during his State Senate and Gubernatorial runs, and Bee Nguyen for Secretary of State in 2022. 

She has also worked with non-profit organizations of various sizes, helping them to open new fundraising avenues and tell their stories to new audiences. As a consultant to the Georgia Alliance, she developed fundraising collateral and wrote multiple annual reports for the organization. In the early 2010s, Bess served as Operations Director of a startup accelerator at Georgia Tech and as the founding Executive Director of Startup Atlanta.

A product of Atlanta Public Schools, Bess received a B.A. from Smith College and an M.A. from the Savannah College of Art. Her proudest achievement might be when she got to marry her passions by designing the John Lewis (with whom she interned in college) "Good Trouble" Mugshot Poster, which won a Reed Award. When she is not helping to elect good people to public office, you can find her working towards a more sustainable plant-based future or traveling abroad.
